This is a test, I want to see you in distress, I want to see you sweat the small stuff, it's tough with no control. I've been a mess, I owe a maintenance fee, sensitivity is anxiety, my skin's too thin for this. In a broken water bed, with no water, with no bread, the dreams I've had this week, are all a bit too bleak. 42nd in the draft, on a freighter in Iraq, the dreams I've had this week are all a bit too bleak. In a broken water bed, on the table, shrunken heads, the dreams I've had this week are all a bit too bleak. 42nd in the draft, on a tanker, in Iraq, the dreams I've had this week are all a bit too bleak.

Have you ever had duck confit? It's cooked in it's own fat, braised and double glazed, I think I might get that. Last time I drove down this road, I almost hit a dear, it might have been a dream, but it's something that I fear. I bet you everything I own, a tornado comes tonight and wipes the slate clean, what a sight. I don't want to hit a dear tonight. Accolades, go to Greg, Greg's been the best sous chef. Agreed. Agreed. Donetsk, I've read, is going to defect to, the reds. You told me why you came back here, remind me I forgot, the flavor's way too rich, the plate is way too hot, if you're up before the sun rises, it'll set your day up right, it also helps to stretch, are you sick of my advice, here's to the ones that got away, stay away from me, keep it free and clean, keep it clean. I don't want to hit a dear tonight. Accolades, go to Greg, Greg's been the best sous chef. Agreed. Agreed. Donetsk, I've read, is going to defect to, the reds. I'll brake for dear, who are caught it the way, coyotes come sit on the fray, I think that I'm going insane, I think that I am going insane. I think that I tip very well, I'm under some kind of spell, come see me when you're well, I'll see you when I'm well. Have you ever had duck confit? It's cooked in it's own fat, braised and double glazed, I think I might get that. Last time I drove down this road, I almost hit a dear, it might have been a dream, but it's something I still fear.

On the way to work, I had an epiphany, I can't remember specifically it happens a lot. I had a lingering doubt. Did I change my address to the post office box? Who knows, who knows. On the way to work, I had a catastrophe, I don't remember the details but it got me upset. I had a vision of hope, at the Taurus in front of me. I watched the planes coming in from the north in my mirrors.

Never again 02:21
If I were to calculate all the times I had to say, never again, never again. If I were to calculate all the times I had to say, never again, never again. When I tripped I laughed it off when I feel, it felt like hell, have you felt that before? Have you felt that before? When I tripped I laughed it off when I feel, it felt like hell, have you felt that before? Have you felt that before? If I were to calculate all the times I had to say, never again, never again. If I were to calculate all the times I had to say, never again, never again.

Oh man I, just dropped a, a bag of lead. Through fasting, through routine, I've leapt ahead. Pass to the, the flagship, the one downtown, no rest for the workers, don't fool around. Oh man I've been, been hustling, to pay the dues, kale salad, raw almonds, one piece of fruit. Nice weather for treadmill, nice workout shoes, the routine is sacred, the diet too. I'm feeling overjoyed, to take it all for granted, oh boy! Back in the gym hooray, I hit my max heart rate today. I'm feeling overjoyed, to take it all for granted, oh boy! Back in the gym hooray, I hit my max heart rate today.

Free range 03:38
Ibuprofen on the table, mine, all mine, brand new padlock for the stable, space on wheels. Disgruntled neighbor, blocked in driveway I'll be gone in five. The last four years felt like two weeks, away at camp. How high a ridge I, I could not tell, from this vantage point outward I don't, don't feel so well. When I think about what I could do without, that just makes two, things in, things in the practice space out on, caesar chavez. Over the bridge through, through East Bay land, morphing, into the valley, I don't, don't got no plans. When I think about what I could do without, that just makes two, things in, things in the practice space out on, caesar chavez.

I can't sleep tonight, I've been out all night, I'm exhausted from the fight. I'm in no shape to date, it doesn't pay to play. I've got too much on my plate. I've made friends with the past it wasn't built to last I'm gonna pass on my debt anyway. I'm dreading my bed and I'll sleep when I'm dead, I'm living right now not for the day. I can't sleep tonight, I've been out all night, I think I've seen the light. I'm in debt to the thrill and I'm walking the bill, the scenery is making me ill. I'm tried and I'm true and I'm black and I'm blue, I blew my paycheck on the way that I feel. What fun is the chase when you're off of your face what fun is overpaying for your last meal. I can't sleep tonight, I've been out all night, I'm exhausted from the fight. I'm in no shape to date, it doesn't pay to play. I've got too much on my plate.

about

"On the follow up to Ranger’s 2014 Reconsider Lounge, Joe Knight continues to burrow into the grubby americana detournements and decompositions that have come to singularly characterize his sound. TEXAS ROCK BOTTOM distills the contemplative, burnt- orange vistas of avant- jam classics Meat Puppets III and Marquee Moon into biomes of tangled, clean- channel guitar interplay, wry prog interventions, and destroyed textures. The suite- like song structures are not but nothing other than the ornate after- hours baroque of Van Dyke Park’s Song Cycleliquidated by DJ Screw. TEXAS ROCK BOTTOM plays out as a hymn to prior visions of a future- scorched west after the tectonic clash of downtown nerves and canyon survivalism prod up a new, irradiated element, taken as contraband across flare- riddled new borders."
